What's the weather like in Essaouira?

Essaouira has equitable temperatures and around 300 days sunshine a year. In the middle of summer its coastal location keeps it much more comfortable than inland Morocco with temperatures generally hovering around 25oC (77oF).  During the winter (which the locals define as 25 December to 3 February), average daytime temperatures are around 15oC (60oF). Nights are relatively cool, especially in winter when you will appreciate a warm top when sitting outside.

The rainfall is about 280 mm per year. This falls mainly between November and April and  summer months are dry with little or no rain.

The winds in Essaouira are strongest from June to mid September, when it is great for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The best time for wave surfing is Spring and Autumn.
